Job summary

RELX Amsterdam is seeking a Director of Engineering Practices to lead transformation of architecture standards, engineering best practices, and technical strategy across the SDLC.

You will partner with Chief Engineer, Architects, and product teams to drive consistency, quality and cost-efficient delivery while embedding AI-assisted development tools.

This role blends hands-on coding input, governance, and strategy in a global information analytics company focused on science and health.

Qualifications

• Experience applying architectural and software development methodologies.
• Understanding of modern software engineering practices and AI-assisted development.
• Ability to translate technical findings into clear recommendations for leadership.
• Experience delivering complex projects and working with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical implementation of practices, processes, workflows, and tooling.
• Own translation of architecture standards into actionable artifacts.
• Build tooling to surface architectural and quality risks.
• Stay hands-on with AI coding capabilities and code reviews.
• Drive adoption of internal engineering platforms and reusable components.
• Identify emerging technologies to inform standards.
