CBRE Investment Management is seeking a Director, EMEA Research - Retail Specialist to lead the pan-European retail research agenda from Amsterdam or London. The role shapes investment views, informs portfolio strategy and supports capital market activities across Europe.

You will present to senior leaders, develop house views, and build tools to analyse market trends and asset-level potential. A senior, globally oriented research position with frequent travel across Europe.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience required.
  • Exceptional verbal communication and influencing skills: the ability to present clearly and persuasively to senior audiences, in both in-person and virtual settings.
  • Strong analytical and data skills: able to interrogate large datasets and translate quantitative findings into actionable investment insight.
  • Strong written communication skills: the ability to produce clear, authoritative research for a range of audiences.
  • Effective stakeholder management: proactive and collaborative, with the confidence to prioritise and coordinate across multiple tasks/teams.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills essential. Experience with AI tools or programming languages is desirable.
  • Fluency in English essential. Proficiency in one or more additional European languages is highly desirable.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly within Europe

Responsibilities

  • Lead the firm's pan-European retail research agenda, acting as the principal internal authority on European retail markets and serving as a credible external voice for the firm's views.
  • Influence investment decision-making by delivering clear, evidence-based retail market views to the European Investment Committee, portfolio managers and senior leadership, both verbally and in writing.
  • Analyse the impact of macroeconomic, capital market and structural trends on European retail real estate markets.
  • Present at fund and investor meetings, internal forums and external industry events. Contribute to capital raising through compelling communication of the firm's retail market positioning.
  • Take an active role in the firm's European House Views process, including assisting with forecasting and devising preferred investment strategies.
  • Produce acquisition and disposition research reports for retail assets, providing investment committees with incisive market context and risk assessment.
  • Build out analytical tools to assess market, submarket and asset-level qualities to drive conviction in new retail opportunities and support hold/sell analysis.
  • Author and edit research content for fund reports, external publications and thought leadership papers at a European and Global level.

About the role

This is a senior role (Director level) at the heart of CBRE Investment Management's European Research Team, directly influencing investment strategy across one of Europe's leading real estate investment platforms. You will own the firm's pan-European retail research agenda, shaping how the business understands and responds to structural and cyclical change across European retail markets. The team plays a critical role in formulating investment strategy, steering portfolio construction and setting transaction priorities, and you will be expected to drive that agenda for retail - translating rigorous analysis into clear, compelling views that inform decision-making at the highest levels of the organisation. The role is full time and permanent, based in London or Amsterdam. This role reports directly to the EMEA Head of Research.
