Job summary

Rabobank is seeking a hands-on senior infrastructure and network engineer to own the Analytics Platform's architecture and scale toward thousands of users. You will lead Azure networking, governance, and infrastructure-as-code, building guardrails and templates to empower teams while maintaining security and compliance.

As part of a cross-functional team in a Scrum environment, you will train juniors, automate delivery, and drive platform reliability.

Qualifications

• Azure networking at scale: VNets, DNS, IP planning and topology for a platform serving thousands of teams.
• Infrastructure-as-code with state discipline; Pulumi is primary tool, with Terraform or Bicep as transfers.
• Governance and policy-as-code: guardrails, least-privilege identity, secure-by-default automation.
• Ownership: ability to lead smaller initiatives front-to-back with 1-2 engineers.
• Delivery fundamentals: CI/CD with Azure DevOps and Pipelines; proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or C#.

You will work with an international team at Rabobank on building the new Analytics Platform to serve all production-ready and enterprise-grade data science models. Your work will enable hundreds of data scientists and model developers that hail from Financial Economic Crime Fighting over Retail to Marketing to develop and deploy their data‑science models in a compliant and centralized way.

This is a hands‑on senior role for an infrastructure and network engineer who owns architecture: you set and evolve the technical direction for the platform's core as it scales toward a few thousand users.

You & Your Function

• Own the network architecture.Set and evolve the platform's network topology and set‑ups (IP ranges, DNS, VNets) in Azure, and later AWS, making the design decisions that are hard to reverse once it serves a few thousand users.
• Build governed self‑service.Turn a team's request into a running environment through infrastructure-as-code, so onboarding happens on paved paths rather than manual support.
• Set the standards others build on.Create the abstractions, golden paths, and guardrails that let teams move fast safely, and make the platform self‑explanatory rather than dependent on your time.

Must-have

• Azure networking at scale.Deep, hands‑on experience with VNets, DNS, IP address planning, and network topology, and a feel for the decisions that are hard to reverse once a platform serves many teams. This is the part of the role we most need you to be strong in.
• Infrastructure‑as‑code with real state discipline.You think in terms of state, drift, and resource ownership, not just running deployments. We use Pulumi as our primary tool; experience with Terraform or Bicep transfers well.
• Governance and policy‑as‑code.Designing and enforcing guardrails at scale: policy, least‑privilege identity, and secure‑by‑default automation, so the platform stays compliant as it grows.
• Ownership.Ability to lead smaller initiatives front to back with 1-2 engineers.
• Delivery fundamentals.CI/CD with Azure DevOps and Azure Pipelines, and comfort in at least one language such as Python, TypeScript, or C#.

Nice to have(a genuine plus, but none is required and no one person is expected to have all)

• Databricks on Azure and Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs).
• A working understanding of analytics and data‑science workflows, enough to build the platform they run on.
• Exposure to AI services or AWS (for example Azure OpenAI, Azure Foundry, or AWS Bedrock). Useful context, not a selection criterion.
• Abstract thinking, strong communication, motivation to improve processes, proactive, team player.
• Energy to engage with users of vastly different backgrounds almost daily.
• Eager to keep learning, because this field is anything but static.
• Good command of English. Dutch is purely optional.
