Job summary

The Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology seeks an experienced veterinarian to serve as the designated veterinarian, ensuring welfare and health of mice in our SPF facility. The role includes AWB participation, advising on anesthesia, analgesia, perioperative care and 3Rs in experimental design.

There is also an option to broaden responsibilities with internal supervision tasks, conducting audits and supervising experiments in collaboration with the lab animal team.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in veterinary medicine and eligibility to practice in the Netherlands (Diergeneeskunderegister).
• Post-graduate training and/or experience as designated veterinarian, especially for mice.
• Experience as a member of an Animal Welfare Body and/or oncology-related work is a plus.
• Ability to advise animal technicians, researchers and management; proactive and service-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Act as designated veterinarian for health and welfare of mice in the facility.
• Participate in AWB meetings and advise on anesthesia, analgesia, perioperative care, euthanasia and 3Rs.
• Monitor health programs, perform facility visits, supervise procedures and train staff.
• Oversee potential expansion with internal supervision tasks and audits.
