Job summary

BUCK is seeking a Design Apprentice to join our Amsterdam studio. You will work with a talented European Design team, learning to translate concepts into animated designs under seasoned artists.

You’ll grow your craft across illustration, motion design and graphic design, while contributing to high-profile projects in a collaborative, in-person environment. In 2026, in-office work guidance is 2-3 days per week, with case-by-case exceptions.

Qualifications

• Recent graduates welcome; curious and willing to learn.
• Ideal candidate has some experience but emphasis is on learning and growth.
• Must be able to work in the Netherlands at the Amsterdam office.

Responsibilities

This is an opportunity to join our European Design team where you will work among artists who bring our designs to life using a variety of animation techniques.

As a Design Apprentice, you’ll be able to work alongside collaborative teams under some of the most talented artists in the world to build knowledge, skills and responsibility to further your career.

The Design department is a team of highly creative and technical artists working in a collaborative environment. We value the importance of in-person collaboration as a cornerstone of building positive culture, fostering growth, and driving success for individuals, the department, and BUCK as a whole.

In 2026, the guidance for in-office work is 2-3 days per week, with exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis.

Expectations

A generalist designer at BUCK can fluidly transition between illustration, animation and graphic design. They have strong drawing skills, a keen eye for composition, and a good sense of colour.

• Display a thoroughness in your work with a keen sense of attention to detail
• A team player mentality, where you will be able to present your concepts and discuss feedback with the team
• Conceptual thinking for ideas and references
• A distinct creative perspective, with a developing sense of style, taste, and visual thinking

Experience

We welcome recent graduates, self-taught artists and anyone in between. The ideal candidate is someone with some experience, but more importantly we are looking for those who are curious and willing to learn.

Software Knowledge

• Adobe Suite (Photoshop and illustrator specifically)
• Procreate
• Figma knowledge is a plus

BUCK Offers

• A six month period of working on amazing projects with very talented and kind people.
• Be paired up with a mentor for the duration of the program. The mentor will be an active staff member who will support your education and experience at BUCK.
