Job summary

TEKsystems Global Services is supporting a leading organization within the retail and consumer goods industry that is modernizing and scaling its enterprise database platform, seeking an experienced Database Platform Architect to lead Oracle Database@Azure and Exadata.

This senior role combines deep Oracle expertise with cloud architecture, governance, security, and stakeholder management as the technical authority for the database domain, driving standards and modernization initiatives.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Database Architect, Lead DBA, Principal Database Engineer, or similar senior-level role.
• Deep expertise in Oracle Database technologies and enterprise database platforms.
• Strong experience designing and supporting business-critical database environments.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the Oracle Database@Azure platform architecture.
• Define architectural standards, design principles, and best practices.
• Develop long-term platform roadmaps aligned with business and technology objectives.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend future-state solutions.
• Lead architectural discussions around security, compliance, resilience, and scalability.
• Establish governance frameworks and technical standards for database platforms.
• Improve security controls and operational guardrails across the environment.
• Collaborate with security and cloud teams to ensure adherence to enterprise standards.
• Create and maintain architecture documentation, reference designs, and technical blueprints.
• Drive standardization across database environments and operational processes.
• Reduce architectural and documentation debt while improving platform maturity.
• Act as the technical representative for the database domain across the organization.
• Participate in architecture review boards and strategic technology initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, cloud, infrastructure, and security teams.
• Provide architectural guidance and oversight to ensure successful implementation of design decisions.
• Drive initiatives related to Oracle Exadata adoption and optimization.
• Support database consolidation and platform transformation efforts.
• Promote automation, operational efficiency, and engineering best practices.

We are seeking an experienced Database Platform Architect to lead the architectural direction of a large-scale Oracle Database@Azure and Exadata environment.

This is a strategic role for a senior database professional who combines deep Oracle expertise with cloud architecture, governance, security, and stakeholder management experience. The successful candidate will serve as the technical authority for the database domain, driving platform standards, architectural best practices, and long-term modernization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Architecture & Strategy

• Own and evolve the Oracle Database@Azure platform architecture.
• Define architectural standards, design principles, and best practices.
• Develop long-term platform roadmaps aligned with business and technology objectives.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend future-state solutions.

Security, Governance & Compliance

Required Skills

• Proven experience as a Database Architect, Lead DBA, Principal Database Engineer, or similar senior-level role.
• Deep expertise in Oracle Database technologies and enterprise database platforms.
• Strong experience designing and supporting business-critical database environments.

Experience with:

• Oracle Exadata
• Microsoft Azure and/or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
• Enterprise-scale cloud platforms and transformations
• Strong knowledge of database platform design, governance, security, and compliance.
• Experience creating architecture standards and technical documentation.
• Ability to influence technical direction and drive strategic decision-making.
