Job summary

IMPROVED Corporate Finance in Amsterdam offers an AI-focused Data Science Internship. You will work directly with senior leadership to design, build, and deploy AI solutions that impact the business, from automating workflows to surfacing market intelligence.

The role sits in a young, dynamic team and offers hands-on experience across banking and technology. The internship spans three to six months, preferably full-time, with mentorship from practitioners and exposure to an organisation-wide AI

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master student in a technical field (CS/AI/Data Science/IT)
• Strong interest in AI, automation and intelligent systems
• Experience with programming (Python) and affinity with LLMs or AI tools
• Affinity with Corporate Finance and/or M&A
• English fluency; Dutch preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements
• Design and develop AI agents to support internal processes
• Build solutions for efficiency gains and direct client value
• Structure internal knowledge and build searchable AI-powered knowledge systems

The Opportunity

This is not a typical internship. You will work directly with senior leadership and deal teams to design, build, and deploy AI solutions that have real, immediate impact on the business. From automating time-intensive workflows to surfacing deeper market intelligence, you will help shape how IMPROVED operates in the age of AI - and leave a lasting mark on the firm.

Our organisation consists of a young and dynamic team of 15-20 FTE, partnered with seasoned industry experts with an extensive track record in and outside corporate finance.

For this position, we are looking for a Bachelor’s or Master’s student in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, IT or another technical study, who is available for a period of three to six months, preferably full-time, with:

• A strong interest in AI, automation and intelligent systems
• Experience with programming (e.g. Python) and affinity with LLMs, AI tools or workflow automation
• A structured and analytical mindset, with the ability to translate business problems into technical solutions
• Affinity with Corporate Finance and/or M&A
• A proactive, entrepreneurial and solution-oriented attitude
• English fluency and Dutch preferred but not required
• The ability to take ownership and operate in a high-performance environment

Responsibilities

As an Data Science Intern at IMPROVED, you will be treated as a full-time member of the team and will have significant responsibility from day one. Your tasks will include:

• Identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements

• Building solutions for efficiency gains and unlocking direct value for our clients
• Structuring internal knowledge and building searchable AI-powered knowledge systems
• Analysing and mapping internal workflows (CRM, reporting, deal execution processes)
• Contributing to responsible AI usage guidelines and quality control frameworks
