Job description

The digital world never stops. Every video you stream, call you make, swipe, like, or product you buy online runs through data centers, and those consume an enormous amount of energy. That’s where Coolgradient comes in.

We’re a green-tech start-up on a mission to make our digital lives more sustainable. Our solution, GRADIENT Perceptive AI, is a no-code, plug-and-play optimization tool that helps data centers operate more efficiently, sustainably, and cost-effectively. Already in use across the globe, GRADIENT has saved tens of thousands of GWh in energy. And we’re just getting started!

As we scale up, we’re looking for a structured and collaborative Data Quality Engineer to ensure the reliability, freshness, and accuracy of the data powering GRADIENT. This role sits at the heart of our organization, connecting Data Engineering, Analytics, and Product teams, and ensuring that both internal and client-facing data is trustworthy and actionable.

Your impact zone

In this role, you’ll take ownership of organisational data quality at Coolgradient. You’ll be the first point of contact for any data-related questions and act as the guardian of data quality across our stack. You’ll investigate anomalies, monitor freshness, validate calculations, and coordinate remediation across teams. In this role, your day-to-day impact includes:

  • Triage and investigate data questions, explaining findings clearly to stakeholders.

  • Implement checks for freshness, completeness, correctness, and schema/mapping changes.

  • Validate calculations across models, services, and UI/API to ensure consistent and accurate metrics.

  • Assist in resolving data issues by investigating anomalies, providing clear context, and working with the right teams to restore quality.

  • Review data-impacting changes before release to ensure safety and correctness.

  • Define acceptance criteria for new sources or data points, including expected refresh cadences.

What powers you

We value a variety of experiences and backgrounds. If you meet most of the criteria and are excited about the role, we encourage you to apply.

  • 2–5 years of experience in data quality, data analytics, or data engineering roles.

  • Strong SQL skills and familiarity with modern warehouse/ELT practices (Snowflake, dbt).

  • Comfortable working with Python for data validation and automation.

  • Experience with BI and visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

  • Structured, organized, and pragmatic mindset with excellent communication skills.

  • Adaptable team player who can take ownership and collaborate across multiple teams.

  • Nice to haves: scheduler (Prefect/Airflow), observability/testing (Great Expectations, Soda, Monte Carlo, or similar), APIs, git-based reviews.

A cool place to build your future

To support your success and well-being, we offer:

  • A competitive salary, with plans underway to introduce an Employee Stock Option Plan so you can grow your stake in the company’s future.

  • Comprehensive benefits including pension, disability insurance, and a holiday allowance to support your well-being both at work and beyond.

  • A flexible hybrid setup. Blend office, home, or remote work, with hours that fit your lifestyle while staying connected with the team.

  • Mobility options including public transport subscription, company bike, or travel reimbursement for your preferred commute.

  • Strong focus on professional growth with plenty of opportunities for development and skill-building.

  • Team activities, meetups, and business events to connect and collaborate.
