Job summary

Hitachi Construction Machinery Europe (HCME) is seeking a Data & Integration Architect to design, build, and run enterprise data and integration architectures that enable API-first and event-driven capabilities across core processes, analytics, and AI.

In a global, multicultural setting, you will drive adoption, improve security and reliability, and partner with IT and business teams to industrialize patterns and platforms.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Define the target state and roadmap for data and integration across the enterprise.

Your Mission

The Data & Integration Architect defines, designs, and runs the data and integration architecture across the enterprise, combining reference‑architecture leadership with hands‑on delivery. Going beyond narrow boundaries and rigid processes, the role shapes and industrializes modern patterns - often from a blank canvas - to enable API‑first and event‑driven capabilities for core processes, analytics, and AI. Operating as a change agent in a global, multicultural setting, the architect partners across functions to drive adoption and continuously raise the bar on security, performance, and reliability.

What You’ll Be Doing

Enterprise Data & Integration Architecture

• Define and evolve the target state and roadmap for data and integration across the enterprise, aligning business capabilities with architecture guardrails and decision records.
• Establish API‑first and event‑driven reference architectures with a lightweight review mechanism that assures conformance while preserving delivery speed.
• Maintain alignment from business capabilities and processes to the underlying data models, interfaces, and integration flows, with clear ownership and decision traceability across IT and Business teams.

Data Platforms & Integration Solutions

• Design and deliver scalable, resilient integration solutions (APIs, events, batch) connecting ERP and CRM, and co‑architect new capabilities and platforms as they are introduced.
• Industrialize standardized building blocks (reference implementations, patterns, templates, CI/CD, IaC) so teams can deliver consistently and at pace.
• Define guardrails for service levels (SLO/SLA) and performance benchmarks; ensure these objectives are reviewed against telemetry on a regular cadence, with operations owning run‑time optimization.
• Specify operability acceptance criteria and evaluate run‑books, failure‑mode analysis, and automated testing strategies, while execution and day‑to‑day ownership remain with the operations team.
• Ensure end‑to‑end alignment with data platform and analytics functions on data contracts and semantic/consumption models, including performance and operability requirements from ingestion to insight.

Data Modelling & Standards

• Own the enterprise canonical data model and associated naming, metadata, and taxonomy standards to enable consistency across domains.
• Define data contracts and API specifications (versioning, compatibility, deprecation) that protect downstream consumers and support sustainable evolution.
• Establish measurable data quality and lineage practices with clear stewardship roles, aligned to analytics and operational needs.
• Maintain a navigable architecture knowledge base (standards, ADRs, reference diagrams) to improve discoverability and onboarding.

Innovation & Technology Adoption

• Use targeted experiments to de‑risk technology choices and formalize successful approaches into enterprise standards and adoption paths.
• Provide clear criteria for experimentation, decision capture, and scale‑out so that proven capabilities move from trial to normalized practice efficiently.
• Periodically reassess the stack to reduce technical debt and improve time‑to‑value, balancing innovation with reliability.

Risk Management & Compliance

• Identify and mitigate security, privacy, compliance, and performance risks across data and integration flows.
• Ensure architecture and operations adhere to applicable organizational policies and regulatory requirements, with appropriate evidence and controls in place.
• Set resilience and recovery objectives and ensure they are architected into solutions, supported by capacity planning and periodic verification.

What You Bring

• 5+ years as a Data and/or Integration Architect with a proven hands‑on delivery record.
• Demonstrated experience working in a global enterprise and in a multinational, multicultural environment.
• Strong English communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to influence senior business and management stakeholders to deliver AI‑ready enterprise data and integration (value cases, roadmap and prioritization, change management).
• Deep understanding of data modelling and of API‑first and event‑driven integration patterns (synchronous/asynchronous, contract‑first, versioning).
• Experience integrating core enterprise platforms (ERP and CRM) and defining data contracts and API specifications that protect downstream consumers.
• Practical experience collaborating with operations and analytics teams; familiarity with CI/CD and infrastructure‑as‑code practices.
• Solid understanding of security, privacy, compliance, and reliability considerations for data and integration flows; able to guide SLO/SLA definition and telemetry‑driven improvements.

Nice to Have

• Experience with data governance and lineage practices, including stewardship models and measurable data quality thresholds.
• Familiarity with architecture frameworks such as TOGAF® and ArchiMate (helpful but not mandatory).
• Industry exposure to complex equipment or industrial contexts with multi‑tier dealer channels and aftermarket services.
