Job summary

Damen Naval, the naval division of Damen Shipyards Group, seeks a Data Governance & Quality Lead to establish and enforce data policies, standards, and processes across the data lifecycle. You will support data owners and stewards to ensure data accuracy, security, and usability, enabling reliable analytics for next-generation ships and efficient operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT or a relevant field (minimum).
• 3+ years of program and project management experience in data governance, data quality, or large-scale data transformation programs.
• Strong foundation in data management, governance frameworks, and regulatory compliance (GDPR, ISO).
• Lean Six Sigma or similar process-improvement experience, ideally in Industry 4.0, system engineering, or shipbuilding contexts.
• Experience in maritime/defense sectors is valued; engineering mindset is essential.
• Understanding of BI reporting systems and data analysis tools.
• Proficient written and spoken English; Dutch is a plus.
• Willingness to travel domestically or internationally as needed.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain data ownership, data quality rules, and data risk profiles.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and supply chain to document data needs and decisions.
• Monitor data metrics, support data stewards to validate and cleanse data, and address data quality issues.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and mitigate data-related risks.
• Provide training and support to end-users on data quality practices.
• Stay updated on data management tools and foster continuous improvement through guidance.
