Job summary

Damen Naval is seeking a Data Governance & Quality Lead to establish and enforce data policies, standards, and processes across the data lifecycle. You will enable reliable analytics and informed decision-making for next-generation ships and operations.

You will partner with engineers, project managers, and supply chain to define data definitions, monitor quality metrics, and drive improvement, while ensuring regulatory compliance and stakeholder alignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT or a related field with 6+ years of relevant experience.
• 3+ years of experience in program and project management in data governance/quality or large-scale data transformation programs.
• Strong foundation in data governance, data quality, regulatory compliance (GDPR, ISO).
• Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or process improvement for Industry 4.0 and system engineering.
• Experience in maritime/defense is valued; engineering mindset essential.
• Understanding of BI reporting systems and data analysis tools.
• Proficient English; Dutch a plus; willingness to travel or work abroad.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain data ownership, data quality rules, risk profiles, security, and data definitions per governance frameworks.
• Collaborate with engineers, PMs, supply chain, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and definitions.
• Monitor data metrics, validate and cleanse data, and address errors to maintain data quality.
• Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and mitigate data-related risks.
• Provide training to end-users on resolving data quality issues and best practices.
• Stay updated on data management tools and promote continuous improvement.
• Document processes, methodologies, and findings for knowledge sharing.
