Job summary

Ohpen, based in Amsterdam, is seeking a Data Governance & Data Management Engineer to build and improve a scalable data governance platform within the Ohpen Data team. You will work with both technical and business stakeholders to ensure data is defined, managed, and governed across the platform.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience with data governance, data management, or data architecture in a financial institution or similarly complex environment
• Proficiency in Dutch and English
• Understanding of data lineage, data lifecycle management, and data quality frameworks
• Experience working in cross-functional environments with business and engineering stakeholders
• Hands-on with data systems and codebases
• Experience with data platforms and data modeling
• Interest in AI-assisted development or automation

Responsibilities

Ohpen is looking for aData Governance & Data Management Engineer to join ourData team.
In this role, you will play a key role in improving how data is defined, managed, and governedacross our platform, working closely with both technical teams and business stakeholders at our beautiful office in Amsterdam.

Briefing

Drive data governance and platform development:
You’ll design, implement, and improve our data governance platform, including metadata, lineage, and data definitions. You will actively populate and maintain governance artifacts, leveraging modern tooling and AI-assisted solutions to reflect the current state of our platform.
Support client implementations:
Act as a subject matter expert in data governance during client implementations and discovery phases. You’ll help ensure data structures and flows are scalable, transparent, and well-governed, while engaging directly with clients on topics such as data lineage, lifecycle management, and data quality.
Contribute to our data platform:
As part of the Data team, you’ll contribute to the development of our data lake, expanding data products, and unlocking new data sources. You’ll help deliver high-quality, near real-time data while maintaining consistency across the platform.
Strengthen data modeling and stewardship:
You’ll facilitate data stewardship practices, identify and resolve data modeling challenges, and improve data ownership, definitions, and consistency across teams.
Collaborate on internal data initiatives:
Work closely with cross-functional teams on key initiatives such as business key standardization, code table harmonization, data modeling governance, and API design consistency.

About You

Experience

• You have 2+years'experiencewithdata governance,data management, ordata architecturein afinancial institutionor similarly complex environment
• You have proficiency in Dutch and English
• You understand concepts such asdata lineage,data lifecycle management, anddata quality frameworks
• You have experience working incross-functional environmentswith bothbusinessandengineering stakeholders

Technical Skills

• You have a strongtechnical affinityandare able toworkhands-on with data systems and codebases
• You have strong skills inPython,SQL,infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), andcloud development (AWS)
  • Experience withDjangoandApache Airflowis a plus
• You have experience withdata platforms, ordata modeling
• You have an interest in or experience withAI-assisted developmentorautomation
