Job summary

OBSS in Amsterdam seeks a highly skilled Data Engineer to drive data-driven transformation across our global organization. You will automate reporting ecosystems, onboard new data sources, and build enterprise data warehouses, bridging legacy MS Access, Excel, and text-based workflows into robust pipelines.

Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure high-quality data delivery from staging to data marts, focusing on data modeling, T-SQL development, and modern data engineering

Qualifications

• At least 5+ years of proven experience in Data Modeling, Database Administration, and Database Management.
• 5+ years of deep T-SQL development expertise, including writing complex stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, and query optimization.
• At least 3+ years of experience in the banking sector with in-depth knowledge of financial products, core banking systems, and their underlying data structures
• Expertise in data engineering tools such as Python and Apache Airflow for pipeline development and workflow orchestration.
• Strong knowledge of Git and collaborative version control workflows.
• Practical experience in reverse-engineering complex legacy setups (MS Access, Excel, text files) and migrating them into modern data pipelines.
• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills focused on automation, paired with effective communication skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Onboard new data sources into the Data Warehouse from staging through to data marts while maintaining strict data quality standards.
• Maintain, optimize, and continuously develop the core SQL Server data warehouse.
• Execute user stories focused on source onboarding, adding new fields, and delivering custom reporting requests.
• Reverse-engineer complex legacy setups relying on MS Access, Excel reports, and text files to convert them into scalable data solutions.
• Collaborate and consult with cross-functional business teams across the bank to automate reporting environments and align technical solutions with business needs.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to drive data-driven transformation across our international organization. In this greenfield environment, you will play a key role in fully automating the reporting ecosystem, onboarding new data sources, and solving exciting technological challenges. The position requires a deep understanding of the banking domain, core banking system data, and financial products to effectively develop and maintain the enterprise SQL data warehouse. You will also bridge legacy infrastructure with modern workflows by reverse-engineering complex setups involving MS Access, text files, and Excel reports into robust automated pipelines. Collaboration is central to this role, as you will consult directly with cross-functional business stakeholders to ensure high-quality data delivery from staging to data marts.

Main Responsibilities
