Job summary

Wlgroup in The Hague, Netherlands, is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer for a multinational defence hosting service. You will manage day-to-day hosting operations, assist senior staff, and oversee the virtual infrastructure and storage, plus the physical data centre lifecycle.

The role requires deep data-centre knowledge, VMware vSphere 7+ hands-on experience, and ITIL-aligned processes. A strong foundation in Windows/Linux, SAN/NAS, and automation with Ansible or VMware Aria is essential.

Qualifications

MSc with five years of related experience, or a BSc with seven.
Deep data-centre concepts: servers, storage, virtualisation, and backup/restore.
Hands-on data-centre management on VMware vSphere 7+ with blade and rack servers; knowledge of VMware Cloud Foundation.
SAN/NAS fundamentals: TCP/IP, Fibre Channel, FCoE, iSCSI, WWN, LIFs, for SAN and NAS storage.
Install, monitor and maintain data-centre equipment including cabling and infrastructure.
Active Directory, Windows Server and Red Hat Linux.
IT asset and configuration management, and ITIL practice.
Automation with VMware Aria or Ansible.
Sound practical knowledge of IT security.
Clear documentation and English communication.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day operation and maintenance of the hosting services.
Support senior technicians, engineers and service delivery across design and operation.
Administer and maintain virtual infrastructure and platform systems.
Install, manage and run common user services over networks.
Perform daily data-centre checks and replace failing parts proactively.
Keep topology diagrams and configuration databases updated.
Troubleshoot in the data centre and document work.
Advise on life-cycle of capabilities and monitor service levels.
Write operating procedures and service instructions.
