Job summary

Google is seeking a Data Center Facilities Technician Intern in the Netherlands to learn and support critical electrical and mechanical systems within our data centers.

You will train alongside experienced technicians, assist with operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC, UPS, generators and monitoring systems, and learn to read blueprints while contributing to safe, reliable, and energy-efficient infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a degree program relevant to data center operations in the EMEA region.
• Practical or internship experience in Mechanical/HVAC or electrical systems in an industrial or commercial environment.

Responsibilities

• Learn to operate, maintain and repair critical electrical and mechanical systems in a data center.
• Assist with inspection, maintenance and repair of HVAC, UPS, generators, and control systems.
• Read blueprints/schematics and support daily data center operations.

As a Data Center Facilities Technician Intern, you will play a vital role in maintaining the physical data center environment. You will train alongside experienced technicians, gaining experience by assisting with the operation, maintenance, and repair of critical electrical and mechanical systems, including HVAC, UPS, generators, and control and monitoring systems.
A key part of your role will be learning to inspect, maintain, and repair various data center systems like piping and other electrical or mechanical components. You'll also learn to read blueprints and schematics, assist in conducting system tours, and provide daily support to our technicians. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to develop creative solutions for improving operational efficiencies and reducing costs, all while adhering to our strict health and safety policies. Netherlands: €40600 (EUR) + 0% bonus target

Minimum qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in an educational program relevant to the job qualifications or an accredited full-time Bachelor's or Master's degree program located in the EMEA region.
• Relevant practical or internship experience in Mechanical/Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC), or electrical experience (e.g., electrical testing equipment or electrical distribution) in an industrial or commercial environment.

Preferred qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in your penultimate/final year of education.
• Relevant practical or internship experience in data centers or critical facilities, such as hospitals, or power plants.
• Relevant practical or internship experience of electrical or mechanical systems used in a data center environment (e.g., Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units).
• Knowledge of meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting utilizing standard hand tools, digital metering, or calibration/diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to complete a 13 week full-time internship in the internship location starting either May, June or July 2027.
