Senior Data Centre Engineer - Operations

I am partnering with a growing European data centre operator to recruit a Senior Data Centre Engineer who can strengthen its facilities operations and help develop the technical capability of its engineering team.
This is an opportunity for an experienced facilities engineer who enjoys sharing knowledge, improving working practices and making a visible impact. You will act as the technical link between the site manager and facility engineers, helping the team operate more independently and consistently.
The role combines practical operational involvement with technical mentoring, procedure development and supplier supervision.
Your responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day technical guidance and mentoring to facility engineers across three data centres.
- Translate technical knowledge into clear, practical operating procedures and instructions.
- Create, review and improve maintenance procedures, risk assessments and method statements.
- Support the operation of critical electrical, mechanical, cooling and fire systems.
- Coordinate and supervise external maintenance providers, checking work against agreed scopes and following up on reports and outstanding actions.
- Participate in routine operational activities, including generator testing and working alongside specialist suppliers.
- Improve documentation and working practices so engineers can respond more confidently to operational issues and call-outs.
- Identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency and consistency across the facilities.
Requirements
- Data centre facilities operations or maintenance experience is essential.
- A practical understanding of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
- Experience writing and reviewing operational procedures.
- Confidence supervising contractors and supporting safe maintenance activities.
- The ability to explain technical information clearly and coach less experienced colleagues.
- Familiarity with relevant Dutch regulations and data centre industry standards.
- Fluent Dutch
- Valid driving licence
- Willingness to work on site, travel between facilities and participate in on-call cover.
