Job summary

European Tech Recruit is seeking a Data Center Field Engineer to own day-to-day hardware operations for GPU compute racks on the Amsterdam campus, with periodic travel to other European sites during the build-out phase.

Responsibilities include server/rack installs, troubleshooting, and collaboration with SRE and network teams to bring new capacity online in a fast-paced rollout. Candidates should have hands-on DC hardware experience and basic Linux skills.

Qualifications

• Hands-on data-centre hardware experience: rack-and-stack, break-fix, structured cabling.
• Comfort with basic Linux and out-of-band management tools.
• Willingness to travel periodically to other European sites.
• Ability to work independently and under time pressure during a live build-out.

• Support out-of-band management (IPMI/Redfish) and remote diagnostics for hardware issues
• Travel periodically to Sweden and Serbia sites to support installs or urgent issues
• Log and track work through ticketing systems (ServiceNow/Jira)
• Participate in shift/on-call coverage as required
• Work closely with SRE and network teams during new capacity bring-up

Data Center Field Engineer - Hardware / Data Centre Operations

About the Opportunity

Our client is a fast-scaling AI infrastructure operator building out next‑generation GPU compute campuses across multiple European countries, supporting some of the largest AI training and inference workloads in the region. They’re in the middle of an aggressive multi‑site build‑out, six deployments across four countries in six months. This role sits within the Amsterdam campus, with periodic fly‑in support to newer sites during their build‑out phase.

The Role

You'll own day‑to‑day hardware operations for GPU compute racks across the Amsterdam campus; installs, break‑fix, and troubleshooting, including commissioning new capacity as it comes online during a live, fast‑moving rollout.

What You'll Do

• Perform server/rack install, structured cabling, and hardware troubleshooting across sites.
• Support out‑of‑band management (IPMI/Redfish) and remote diagnostics for hardware issues
• Travel periodically to Sweden and Serbia sites to support installs or urgent issues
• Log and track work through ticketing systems (ServiceNow/Jira)
• Participate in shift/on‑call coverage as required
• Work closely with SRE and network teams during new capacity bring‑up

What We're Looking For

• Hands‑on data‑centre hardware experience: rack‑and‑stack, break‑fix, structured cabling

Nice to Have
