Job description

Cyber Security Architect - Shaping the Future of Security

EXO ARNVIND is collaborating with a pioneering organisation at the heart of the Netherlands' energy transition to identify their next Cyber Security Architect.

Our client is a leader in building and maintaining the critical infrastructure that powers millions of homes and businesses, ensuring energy remains reliable, sustainable, and secure. As the digital and physical landscapes of energy systems grow increasingly complex, the need for robust, forward-thinking security solutions has never been greater.

This role is your chance to step into a high-impact position where your expertise will directly safeguard the nation's energy supply-today and for decades to come. Join a team of dedicated professionals who are not just securing systems, but enabling the future of energy.

The Opportunity

As a Cyber Security Architect, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing security frameworks that protect both IT and operational technology (OT) environments. The energy sector is undergoing rapid transformation, with the rise of smart grids, renewable energy sources, and digitalised infrastructure. This evolution brings new challenges—and opportunities—for security professionals. You will be at the forefront of addressing these challenges, translating cutting-edge technology into practical, resilient security measures that keep the lights on and homes warm.

This is more than a technical role; it's a strategic position where you will influence decision-making at the highest levels. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, advise senior management, and contribute to a culture of security awareness across the organisation. If you are passionate about making a tangible difference—where your work has a direct impact on society—this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and refine security architectures that address the unique challenges of IT and OT convergence in the energy sector, ensuring solutions are both innovative and pragmatic.
  • Provide expert guidance to leadership and propose actionable improvements to enhance the organisation's security posture.
  • Participate in the organisation's security architecture council, where you will evaluate and approve designs to ensure they meet stringent security standards.
  • Lead and mentor cross-functional teams during the implementation, configuration, and continuous improvement of security best practices.
  • Establish security frameworks, policies, and guidelines, and champion the adoption of security knowledge across the organisation to foster a culture of vigilance and resilience.
  • Solve complex security challenges at the intersection of business needs and technical requirements, balancing risk with operational efficiency.
Your Team

You will join the Chief Information Security Office (CISO Office), a dynamic and autonomous team responsible for safeguarding the organisation's digital landscape. This group of highly skilled professionals—including security architects, specialists, and managers—works collaboratively to develop security building blocks, policies, and frameworks that protect the entire organisation. The team thrives on collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to excellence. Here, your voice matters, and your contributions will shape the security strategies that underpin the energy transition.

The CISO Office operates as a strategic partner to all business units and subsidiaries, giving you a broad and influential platform to drive change. You will work alongside experts who are not only leaders in their fields but also deeply invested in mentoring and supporting one another. This is an environment where curiosity is encouraged, and where your ideas can turn into impactful solutions.

What You Bring
  • A proven track record as a Cyber Security Architect or in a comparable role, with at least five years of experience in cyber security and security architecture. If your job title was different but your responsibilities aligned with this role, we encourage you to highlight this in your application.
  • A strong educational background in information technology, computer science, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications in security architecture, such as SABSA or CISSP, demonstrating your expertise and commitment to the field.
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO standards and completion of a NIST training programme, ensuring you are well-versed in globally recognised security frameworks.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to translate complex security concepts into actionable plans that align with business objectives.
  • Experience working in environments where IT and OT intersect, particularly within critical infrastructure sectors like energy, utilities, or industrial systems, is highly advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills, enabling you to articulate security risks and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Why This Role Matters

The energy transition is one of the most significant challenges of our time, and it cannot happen without robust cyber security.

As a Cyber Security Architect, you will be instrumental in ensuring that the infrastructure supporting renewable energy, smart grids, and digitalised systems remains secure and resilient. Your work will enable the reliable delivery of energy to homes and businesses, while also protecting the critical systems that underpin modern society. This is a rare opportunity to combine technical excellence with meaningful impact—where your expertise directly contributes to a more sustainable and secure Netherlands.
