Job description

DENSO Europe represents the regional headquarters and European affiliate companies of DENSO Corporation, one of the largest technology suppliers in the global automotive industry. Our products and systems are an important part of nearly every major vehicle around the world. So, if you see it on the road, chances are there's a DENSO product under the hood, in the dash or elsewhere on the vehicle.

DENSO is at the forefront of advanced technology and is in a unique position to shape the future of mobility. We see this not just as an opportunity to create technologies that enable motion, but as a responsibility to influence the direction of that movement towards safety, sustainability and a greater need for inspiration.

With more than 200 subsidiaries and affiliates across 5 continents, DENSO is powered by a global workforce of about 170,000 individuals, whose expertise in research and development, engineering, manufacturing, sales and operations, enable us to continuously develop core technologies designed to respond to the industry and society's evolving needs by pushing the boundaries of what's possible.

This role is a key customs expert position within EU-PCL, created to strengthen customs compliance, process control, and operational support across the European logistics network. The Customs Specialist / Customs Expert acts as a central point of knowledge and guidance for European manufacturing companies, helping teams manage import, export, origin, customs data, and regulatory requirements in a compliant, practical, and efficient way. By combining strong customs expertise with a proactive service mindset, the role contributes to reliable cross-border flows, audit readiness, risk reduction, and continuous improvement across EU-PCL.

Responsibilities

  • Safeguard accurate, timely, and compliant customs declarations and customs-related administrative processes.
  • Provide central support and guidance for import, export, transit, bonded warehouse, and customs compliance activities across the EU-PCL scope.
  • Ensure reliable customs master data by maintaining and validating tariff classifications, origin data, customs values, Incoterms-related requirements, and process documentation.
  • Manage Long Term Supplier Declarations, Country of Origin certifications, preferential origin evidence, and related origin documentation.
  • Coordinate customs audits, authority requests, inspections, internal control checks, and audit file requirements with a strong focus on readiness and transparency.
  • Monitor changes in EU customs legislation and translate them into clear instructions, practical controls, and improvement actions for the organization.
  • Act as a central escalation point for customs holds, failed transit closures, missing export confirmations, origin concerns, broker errors, and other compliance risks.
  • Build strong working relationships with plants, warehouses, transport teams, customs brokers, finance, VAT, sales, procurement, ISD, logistics partners, and customs authorities.
  • Support proper retention and control of customs, VAT, transport, and export evidence for import, export, intra-EU, and preferential origin requirements.
  • Drive standardization, training, continuous improvement, and best-practice sharing across EU-PCL customs procedures and controls.
  • Proactively follow up on open topics, support local teams with practical solutions, and help align daily execution with central EU-PCL requirements
Qualifications

Qualifications & requirements

The role is suitable for a customs professional with a solid operational background and the ability to apply customs knowledge in a practical business environment.

  • Strong knowledge of EU customs regulations, import and export processes, transit procedures, bonded warehouse requirements, origin rules, tariff classification, customs valuation, and customs systems.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, automotive, warehouse, or European distribution environment is preferred.
  • Practical experience with customs audits, LTSD, CoO, DMS, Descartes, broker management, and cross-functional compliance processes is considered a strong advantage.

A candidate who can combine technical customs knowledge with business understanding and a practical approach will be especially successful in this role.
