Job summary

ABB zoekt een Customer Application Engineer die application-expertise opbouwt over de Critical Power-portfolio en klantenwaardevolle oplossingen ondersteunt. Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Energy Systems, or related field.
• >5 years of professional experience in Critical Power, UPS systems, Energy Storage, Power Conversion or related applications.
• Strong understanding of customer applications, solution architectures, market segments, and channel dynamics.
• Experience supporting Sales through technical consulting, customer engagement, and channel enablement.
• Experience developing standards, methodologies, tools, and best practices within a technical organization.

Responsibilities

• Building and developing expertise in customer applications, solution architectures, market segments, and customer value propositions for the Critical Power portfolio while supporting Sales with fit-for-purpose solutions.
• Developing and maintaining standards, methodologies, tools, best practices, reference architectures, and reusable application frameworks to ensure consistency and engineering excellence.
• Acting as a subject matter expert for strategic customer applications, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing across Sales, Product Management, R&D, and other Agile Units.
• Capturing market trends, customer needs, and application requirements, translating them into actionable insights that support business growth and future product development.

Your role and responsibilities

As a Customer Application Engineer, you will drive application expertise across ABB's Critical Power portfolio, supporting the development of customer-focused and value-driven solutions. Acting as a bridge between customers, Sales, Product Management, and R&D, you will help translate market needs into technical solutions while contributing to future product innovations and business growth.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Building and developing expertise in customer applications, solution architectures, market segments, and customer value propositions for the Critical Power portfolio while supporting Sales with fit-for-purpose solutions.
• Developing and maintaining standards, methodologies, tools, best practices, reference architectures, and reusable application frameworks to ensure consistency and engineering excellence.
• Acting as a subject matter expert for strategic customer applications, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing across Sales, Product Management, R&D, and other Agile Units.
• Capturing market trends, customer needs, and application requirements, translating them into actionable insights that support business growth and future product development.

Qualifications for the role

• More than 5 years of professional experience in Critical Power, UPS systems, Energy Storage, Power Conversion, or related applications.
• Strong understanding of customer applications, solution architectures, market segments, and channel dynamics.
• Ability to translate customer requirements into differentiated technical solutions and compelling customer value propositions aligned with business strategy.
• Experience supporting Sales organizations through technical consulting, customer engagement, and channel enablement.
• Experience developing standards, methodologies, tools, and best practices within a technical organization.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience working across customers, channel partners, Sales, Product Management, and R&D.

• Knowledge of international standards and regulations, including Grid Codes and utility operator requirements (e.g., NERC, ERCOT, Fingrid, IEEE 2800).
