Job summary

Van Oord is seeking a Cost Estimator for their Infra Land product line to prepare cost estimates for infrastructure projects in the Netherlands. You will work with tender and project managers, utilizing your technical expertise and analytical skills.

Overview

As a Cost Estimator, you play a key role in ensuring that complex infrastructure projects are budgeted in a way that is technically sound and financially realistic, helping us make smart choices regarding design, execution, and risks with a direct impact on projects that matter for the Netherlands.

YOUR IMPACT: As a Cost Estimator within our Infra Land product line, you will help prepare cost estimates for infrastructure projects. You will contribute to technically sound and financially well-founded bids together with tender and project managers and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Prepare simple budgets and sub-budgets under supervision.
• Analyze tender documents and gather technical input.
• Identify risks in budgets.
• Conduct site visits under supervision.
• Develop simple work methods and schedules.
• Collaborate in integrated tender teams with engineers, planners, and risk specialists.

Workplace

You will work within Tendering & Engineering (T&E), the technical and strategic heart of Van Oord. Knowledge and experience from various disciplines come together to develop innovative solutions for complex projects. As part of the Infra Land product line, you’ll work on infrastructure projects in the Netherlands and neighboring countries and be part of an integrated tender team and a professional network of cost engineers within the Dredging & Infra Business Unit.

About you

For this role, we are looking for a professional with a technical background and strong analytical skills. You should be able to quickly grasp the essence of projects and translate technical details into realistic cost estimates and strategic advice. You bring the following qualifications:

• A completed higher professional education (HBO) or university (WO) degree (preferably in civil engineering).
• Basic knowledge of cost engineering, equipment, and projects from experience.
• Analytical skills and an interest in both numbers and technology.
• Curious, eager to learn, and not afraid to ask questions.
• Residing in the Netherlands and fluent in both Dutch and English.
