Job summary

AWL in the Netherlands seeks a Cost Engineer within the General Industry unit to prepare competitive quotations for high-end manufacturing solutions, from handling systems to fully automated production lines.

You will translate complex technical and financial information into reliable cost price calculations, working closely with Sales, Supply Chain, Production and Finance to structure information into one clear cost overview and support cost optimisation.

Qualifications

• HBO bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering & Management or Mechanical Engineering or comparable field.
• At least 3 years of experience in a similar technical role.

Responsibilities

• Calculate cost prices of machines and production lines based on materials, engineering hours and assembly.
• Provide insight into cost structures and the assumptions behind quotations.
• Contribute ideas on cost optimisation and manufacturability in collaboration with engineering and production.
• Combine data from various sources into one clear cost overview.
• Contribute to international projects and alignment with foreign subsidiaries.

What do we expect?

• You have at least a completed bachelor’s degree (HBO) in Industrial Engineering & Management, Mechanical Engineering or a comparable field, and at least 3 years of experience in a similar role within a technical environment. You effortlessly switch between different calculations and projects and bring structure to your work;
• You have a strong interest in technology, data and finance, are accurate and analytical, and are able to interpret large amounts of numerical information and identify links between technology and costs;
• You have an excellent command of Microsoft Excel; knowledge of Microsoft Navision is a plus and will help you quickly find your way in the role;
• You work in a structured manner, even under time pressure, and proactively obtain missing information from colleagues;
• You are curious and investigative by nature: you don’t just want to execute, but also to understand, and you actively ensure clarity in your work.

About This Vacancy

As a Cost Engineer within the Business Unit General Industry, you will work on challenging, innovative projects in an international and dynamic environment. You play a key role in preparing competitive quotations for high-end manufacturing solutions – ranging from handling systems to complex, fully automated production lines.

You translate complex technical information and large amounts of data into clear and reliable cost price calculations. In doing so, you work closely with Sales, Supply Chain, Production and Finance to structure all relevant information and translate it into one consistent cost overview.

More than just calculations

In addition to preparing cost calculations, you play an active role in improving our internal processes. You provide input for purchasing, resource planning and the further optimisation of our calculation methodology. You also identify trends in cost developments, both internally and in the market, and share these insights with the sales team so they can make better-informed decisions.
