Job summary

Vanderlande Industries B.V. is seeking a Controls Project Engineer for RMR Projects in Veghel.

You will design, program, and commission PLC-based control systems for retrofit and renewal projects, coordinating with customers and internal experts to ensure peak system performance. The role requires a degree in Electrical/Automation Engineering or a mechatronics apprenticeship with certification, strong PLC skills (Siemens S7 / TIA Portal), and up to 50% European travel.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical/Automation Engineering or a completed mechatronics apprenticeship with technical certification.
  • Solid PLC programming experience (Siemens S7 / TIA Portal) and IEC 61131‑based soft-PLC.
  • Strong project planning and coordination with electrical, mechanical, and IT awareness.
  • Willingness to travel within Europe up to 50%.
  • Proficient in English; ability to work with international teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design and program PLC-based control systems for RMR Projects.
  • Lead control engineering activities from planning to onsite commissioning.
  • Monitor scope, budget, and timeline, and initiate corrective actions.
  • Contribute technical input during sales and estimate control resources.
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders and train customers/installation teams.
  • Develop and standardize control software modules and libraries.
  • Ensure safety, cybersecurity, and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.

This role puts you close to the action, working in close contact with our customers and our internal multidisciplinary experts to deliver solutions that keep their systems running at peak performance. Every day is different—no two projects are alike. You will work on multiple projects simultaneously, from sales review to execution. Each requires creativity, technical expertise, and a proactive mindset.Your Responsibilities:Design and program PLC based control systems for RMR Projects within our customers’ operational material handling systemsLead and coordinate control engineering activities from initial planning through onsite commissioning, including functional testing and integration into high level systemsMonitor project scope, budget, and timeline, and proactively initiate corrective actions when deviations occurSupport the sales phase by contributing technical input and estimating control engineering resource needs for RMR opportunitiesPlan, coordinate, and oversee internal and external stakeholders, including training and guiding customers and installation teams on new or modified control solutionsFurther develop and standardize control software modules and libraries to increase engineering efficiency and consistencyAnalyze and troubleshoot system behavior, optimize existing control software, and collaborate closely with electrical engineering, mechanical design, and IT to ensure seamless system operationEnsure compliance with all applicable safety, cybersecurity, and quality standards throughout the entire project lifecycleWhat do we ask from you?Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a completed mechatronics apprenticeship with additional technical certificationSolid experience in PLC programming (Siemens Simatic S7 / TIA Portal and IEC 61131‑based soft‑PLC systems)Strong project planning and coordination skills with a solid technical understanding of electrical design, mechanics, and IT systemsProficient skills in English and willingness to travel within Europe up to 50% of your time.
