Job summary

BCG Platinion in the Netherlands seeks a Consultant Commodity Trading to help leading global commodity traders unlock value with modern CTRM/ETRM capabilities, data platforms, and digitalization programs. You will work with clients and cross-functional teams to define target landscapes, implement trading solutions, strengthen risk management and data governance, and support transformation programs.

Fluency in English and German, plus at least 2 years in commodity trading implementations, enables

• Degree in CS/IT or related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years in commodity trading implementations.
• Experience in teams with business analysts, developers, QAs.
• Hands-on knowledge of CTRM/ETRM systems and data platforms.
• Solid understanding of commodity trading landscapes and data flows.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert support to energy clients on commodity trading topics.
• Ensure alignment between business concepts and delivery artefacts.
• Lead hands-on delivery of CTRM/ETRM and related trading solutions.
• Coordinate and guide delivery teams across analysis, design, and testing.

As a Consultant Commodity Trading (all genders), you will be working directly with our clients and our colleagues from The Boston Consulting Group on projects to unlock additional value from asset-backed trading strategies, to build new or improved trading capabilities and solutions or solve their modernization and digitalization problems. You will help to analyze requirements, define target landscapes and trading IT organizations, help to manage their implementation programs and to develop their capabilities.

Shape the world of tomorrow

• Providing expert support to our clients in the energy industry with a particular focus on commodity trading; from requirements analysis, to target architecture definition, to solution implementation
• Ensuring fit between business concepts and artefacts to be implemented within delivery teams (e.g., use case detailing, capability mapping, requirements engineering, process design, data domains and flow analysis)
• Taking hands‑on ownership in the successful implementation of specific energy solutions, including Commodity/Energy Trading and Risk Management (CTRM/ETRM), portfolio management, market access, market data, forecasting, scheduling and logistics solutions as well as digital data platforms and value measurement and optimization tools
• Help managing transformation programs by coordinating implementation activities and by providing guidance to the delivery teams (e.g., business analysts, developers, QAs)
• Enhancing delivery quality by providing input on methodological approaches to delivery teams based on solution expertise and experience in the commodity trading industry

This is how you can make a difference

• Above-average completion of a degree in computer science, (business) informatics, business administration, energy engineering, international trade or another related field
• You have at least 2 years of relevant experience in the context of implementation programs pre-dominantly in the commodity trading industry, e.g., working for a vendor, consulting company or commodity trading company
• You collected demonstrable experience working in teams of business analysts, developers and QAs, in projects/programs that span multiple work streams and/or sub-projects
• You have hands‑on technical knowledge in the design, implementation and configuration of industry-leading commodity trading solutions, e.g., ETRM systems such as Endur, Allegro Horizon, RightAngle, Deltix or Beacon
• You have a basic end-to‑end understanding of commodity trading systems landscapes, including core systems and corresponding capability footprint, interfaces, and recent developments in data landscapes
• You command exceptional analytical and conceptual skills but with a strong client and result orientated attitude
• You are fluent in English and German (written and spoken)
• Team spirit and good communication skills, as well as the ability working in a team towards a common goal complete your profile
