Job summary

NTS is seeking a CNC Miller for its Drachten site to operate 5-axis machines with Yasda, Kern and Mikron, using Heidenhain and Fanuc controls. You will set up, program, and measure parts with micron accuracy, producing single pieces and small series in exotic materials.

You’ll join a compact team and have opportunities to grow into programming or machining specialist roles. The role requires a 2-shift schedule (6:00–14:30, 14:15–23:00; Fridays until 21:45) and English proficiency for drawings

• Proficiency in CAM programming and on-machine control.
• Good English for drawings and instructions.

Responsibilities

Job description

As a CNC Miller at NTS Drachten, you are at the foundation of our production process. You work independently on our 5-axis milling machines from Yasda, Kern, and Mikron, with Heidenhain and Fanuc controls. You set up your work, program it in TopSolid 7 or at the control, and monitor the quality yourself. From start to finish, it's your work. You mill compact, ultra-precise products, often no larger than what fits in the palm of your hand, to an accuracy of about 4 microns. No mass production, but single pieces and small series in high-quality and exotic materials such as titanium, molybdenum, niobium, platinum, stainless steel, and Stavax. Each product is different, so your work remains varied and technically challenging. You work in a compact team of about four machinists at your own production site, in two shifts. The lines are short, and the atmosphere is direct and down-to-earth. Together with engineering and work preparation, you make new products feasible and look for the best way to machine them. What you don't know, you will learn here on the work floor from your closest colleagues, at a pace that suits your experience. If you want to progress further, you can develop into a programmer or machining specialist with us.

Your responsibilities

• Independently setting up, operating, and optimizing our 5-axis CNC milling machines (Yasda, Kern, and Mikron);
• Programming independently in TopSolid 7 or at the Heidenhain or Fanuc control;
• Preparing fixtures and checking tools, products, and materials based on technical drawings and work instructions;
• Milling compact single pieces and small series to an accuracy of about 4 microns;
• Monitoring the quality of your own work and measuring it according to our customers' tight tolerances.

Requirements

• A completed technical education at MBO level 3 or 4, preferably in Machining or Mechanical Engineering;
• Demonstrable experience with independently setting up, operating, and programming 5-axis CNC milling machines;
• Experience with programming in CAM, preferably TopSolid, and at the control (Heidenhain or Fanuc);
• Good command of the English language in word and writing, for drawings, work instructions, and communication in the workplace;
• Willingness to work in 2-shifts (6:00 to 14:30 and 14:15 to 23:00, Monday to Thursday; and Friday until 21:45).

• Salary from €3,000 to €4,200 gross per month, depending on experience and qualifications;
