The ideal candidate will possess extensive CISO experience in the public sector, strong knowledge of essential cybersecurity frameworks, and relevant professional certifications. This position requires a proactive approach and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience working as a CISO within the public sector.
• Strong knowledge of NIS2 / Cybersecurity Act (Cbw), BIO 2.0, ISO27001, NIST, GDPR, and ENSIA frameworks.
• Relevant professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent qualifications.

Overview

Are you an experienced CISO with a strong background in information security who thrives in a strategic advisory role? Do you have experience helping organizations strengthen governance, compliance, and cyber resilience? This role acts as a key advisor to management and leadership while driving the maturity of the overall security framework across the organization. We are looking for an experienced Interim CISO to support two municipalities in further developing and embedding their information security strategy, as well as an experienced Senior CISO to support two collaborating municipalities in professionalizing their information security landscape.

The Role

As CISO, you will play a key strategic role in developing, implementing, and safeguarding information security policies across the organization. You will work closely with Information Security Officers, privacy specialists, management, and executive stakeholders to ensure security is structurally embedded into systems, processes, and organizational behavior. Additionally, you will contribute to major transformation initiatives, including organizational change processes and planned outsourcing activities.

Responsibilities

• Define, implement, and continuously improve the organization’s information security strategy and policies
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on cybersecurity risks, governance, and compliance matters
• Ensure adherence to security policies, standards, and regulatory requirements across internal teams and external suppliers
• Drive security awareness initiatives and promote a strong security culture throughout the organization
• Develop a long-term roadmap for compliance with the Cybersecurity Act (NIS2/Cbw)
• Embed information security principles into organizational changes, projects, and outsourcing initiatives
• Provide guidance and strategic direction to the Information Security Officers
• Work closely with privacy, compliance, and IT stakeholders to strengthen the overall security posture

Requirements

• HBO/Bachelor level of working and thinking, preferably in IT, Cybersecurity, Information Management, Public Administration, or a related field
• Several years of experience working as a CISO within the public sector
• Strong knowledge of NIS2 / Cybersecurity Act (Cbw), BIO 2.0, ISO27001, NIST, GDPR, and ENSIA frameworks
• Relevant professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent qualifications
• Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey complex security topics to different stakeholders
• A proactive and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment

Additional Information

• Assignment duration until end of 2026 with possibility of extension
• 32 hours per week
