Job summary

Sire Search seeks a ChemicalCompliance Consultant for a short-term, on-site assignment in Utrecht. You will support the local Lab Safety organization by enhancing chemical inventory quality, improving information systems, and strengthening storage compliance to aid day-to-day usability.

The role requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s in chemistry or related fields, strong knowledge of SDS and inventory management, and experience with ADR/PGS 15 requirements. Dutch language proficiency is required.

Responsibilities

• Validating the active CMR/ZZS chemical inventory and correcting data issues within the inventory system.
• Reviewing and improving the chemical information database, including structure, chemical records, SDS links, and maintenance approach.
• Defining practical data standards, ownership, and ongoing maintenance responsibilities.
• Improving emergency access to SDS information for laboratory users and emergency responders.
• Assessing chemical storage locations, including compatibility, segregation, quantities, and labelling practices.
• Coordinating implementation with key stakeholders and completing a clear handover at the end of the assignment.

Job Description

For a short-term assignment based on-site in Utrecht, we are looking for a ChemicalCompliance Consultant. The consultant will support the local Lab Safety organisation by improving chemical inventory quality, optimising chemical information systems, and assessing chemical storage practices to strengthen compliance and day-to-day usability.

Responsibilities

• Validating the active CMR/ZZS chemical inventory and correcting data issues within the inventory system
• Reviewing and improving the chemical information database, including structure, chemical records, SDS links, and maintenance approach
• Defining practical data standards, ownership, and ongoing maintenance responsibilities
• Improving emergency access to SDS information for laboratory users and emergency responders
• Assessing chemical storage locations, including compatibility, segregation, quantities, and labelling practices
• Supporting the closure of relevant audit findings and strengthening ADR/UN labelling controls
• Establishing routine inspection requirements and supporting periodic clean-up activities
• Updating controlled documentation, templates, and training materials where needed
• Coordinating implementation with key stakeholders and completing a clear handover at the end of the assignment

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in chemistry, laboratory sciences, EHS, or a related field
• Strong knowledge of chemical inventory management and SDS information
• Experience working with CMR/ZZS substances and chemical classification principles
• Good working knowledge of ADR and PGS 15 requirements related to chemical storage, segregation, and labelling
• Proven experience with data validation and implementing compliance improvements
• The ability to work independently, proactively, and to agreed timelines
• Strong communication skills in English; Dutch language proficiency is required
• Temporary Full-Time Contract (6 Months)
• Dutch (B Level)

Other Information

This position is based on-site in Utrecht, Netherlands, and will involve close collaboration with laboratory users, safety stakeholders, facilities, operations, and system owners.
