Job summary

A maritime engineering company based in Rotterdam is seeking a Service Engineer (BWTS) responsible for inspection, maintenance, and repair of ballast water treatment systems on vessels. Candidates should possess strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, a degree in engineering, and experience with BWTS technologies. This position requires willingness to travel extensively and work both independently and under pressure, while ensuring compliance with international regulations.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in a similar role (preferred).
• Good English communication skills (verbal and written).
• Willingness to travel extensively and work aboard vessels.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance of BWTS components.
• Test and validate systems and suggest improvements.
• Provide remote and on-site technical support to vessel crews.

Skills

Knowledge of BWTS technologies (UV treatment, electro-chlorination, etc.)

Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities

Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

Strong communication skills

Experience with common productivity tools (e.g., Google Workspace)

Education

Professional (Diploma or Bachelor’s) degree in engineering or vocational qualification
