The Role
We are now looking for a Business Development Strategist to join our team in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The strategist will be involved in business development projects in Europe, the USA and Latin America and will become responsible for generating opportunities for the company in these regions, developing concrete plans and ensuring implementation in close collaboration with commercial and operational teams who will execute the developed plans. (Senior) stakeholder management is an important part of the role and requires strong communication and presentation skills. The strategist will be in contact with business relationships to gain understanding of markets and insights that might lead to building business cases or in case of due diligence in MnA trajectories.
- Transform commercial leads into business cases and management proposals, integrating new business into the existing environment.
- Conduct market research and analysis in the agricultural commodities sector; investigate new business opportunities, strategic ventures, and market entry.
- Engage in business expansions, including new products, segments, markets, trade flows, assets, and M&A activities.
- Develop/apply deep understanding of international (bulk) logistics, supply and demand models and trading.
- Understand the (macro)economic and political factors that influence the sector and apply this knowledge to the projects.
- Prepare business plans, proposals, and presentations for senior management.
- Collect data, build comprehensive models and simulations, performing sensitivity analysis to test certain scenario’s.
- Make working capital estimates, ROE, ROCE models, IRR and NPV valuations.
- Track business profitability, costs, and risks, providing key overviews for management.
- Manage and coordinate projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery.
- Maintain and update strategy-related databases and records.
- Support the COO in executing operational strategies and initiatives for business growth and efficiency.
- In case a positive investment decision is made, assist in proper handover to business and measurement of benefits (& compare against business case for future learning).
The role will be reporting to the Manager Business Development, based in Singapore.
Qualifications
- Around 2-3 years of experience in consultancy, business development, or a related field with a strong understanding of business development processes and strategies.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field (Master's degree is a plus).
- Proficiency in Spanish is an advantage, fluency in English a must.
- Proficiency in financial analysis and modelling is an advantage.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and data analytical tools like Power BI.
