Job summary

U-People in the Netherlands is seeking a BI Engineer to turn data into actionable insights using Power BI. You will develop dashboards, maintain semantic models and manage report publishing and refresh in Amsterdam.

The ideal candidate has about 3 years in BI, strong SQL, and hands-on Power BI Desktop/Service, DAX and data modeling. Certifications such as PL-300, DP-600, and Microsoft Fabric are a plus. This is a collaborative, stakeholder-facing role with room to grow.

Qualifications

• Approximately 3 years of experience in BI engineering or similar.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX and Power Query.
• Experience with semantic models, star schemas, fact and dimension tables, and Power BI access.
• Good SQL and data analysis skills; ability to troubleshoot reporting issues.
• HBO-level thinking; PL-300, DP-600 and Microsoft Fabric are plus.

• Develop and improve Power BI reports and dashboards, turning business needs into clear insights
• Build and maintain semantic models, DAX measures, and dimensional data models (star schemas)
• Manage Power BI Service workspaces, access permissions, report publishing and model refreshes
• Investigate data quality and reporting issues using SQL and analytical problem-solving skills
• Support key users, handle BI incidents and track improvements through ITSM and Azure DevOps

Who we are looking for:

• Around 3 years of experience as a BI Engineer, Power BI Developer or similar professional
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX and Power Query
• Experience with semantic models, star schemas, fact and dimension tables, and Power BI access
• Good working knowledge of SQL, data analysis and troubleshooting reporting or refresh issues
• HBO-level thinking; PL-300 is preferred. Microsoft Fabric, DP-600 and Azure DevOps are a plus
