Job summary

Outtask Group in Amsterdam is seeking a Medior Java Developer to join a compact development team and build reliable backend services in a modern microservices landscape. You will write code and contribute to design, testing, deployment and continuous improvement of critical applications.

You will develop and maintain microservices and REST APIs using Java 21 and Spring Boot, implement event-driven communication with Kafka and Azure Event Hub, and deploy on Kubernetes/AKS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Proven experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience building REST APIs in a microservices environment.
• Familiarity with event-driven systems (Kafka, Azure Event Hub).
• Knowledge of Kubernetes/K8s and AKS is a plus.
• Understanding of distributed systems and design patterns (DDD, hexagonal).

Responsibilities

• Write code and develop backend services in a modern microservices landscape.
• Contribute to design, testing, deployment and continuous improvement of critical applications.
• Develop and maintain microservices and REST APIs using Java 21 and Spring Boot.
• Implement event-driven communication with Kafka and Azure Event Hub.
• Deploy and manage applications on Kubernetes/AKS.
• Create tests with Testcontainers, WireMock, Mockito and MockMvc.
• Apply hexagonal architecture, SOLID, and DDD.
• Contribute to IaC using Terraform.
• Collaborate with a small team to improve deployment and rollback strategies.
