Job summary

Lely in Maassluis, Netherlands, is seeking a Backend Developer to join our robotics and digital farming software teams. You will design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs that power our robotic ecosystem.

You will collaborate with software engineers, product owners, and other stakeholders in multidisciplinary Scrum teams to translate requirements into reliable, secure solutions and improve performance, quality, and security across platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in backend software development.
• Experience with C#, JavaScript or TypeScript, and modern backend frameworks such as ASP.NET Core or ExpressJS.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and building scalable backend systems.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and cloud or container technologies such as Azure, Docker, or Kubernetes.
• An interest in software quality, testing, and secure development practices, including authentication and authorization concepts.
• Familiarity with cyber security (authentication, authorization, threat modeling).
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines and translate requirements into practical solutions.
• A self-starting personality. You are someone who doesn’t wait for instructions and who starts designing and prototyping to prove whether concepts work or not.

• Contributing to the development of future-proof platform modules and ensuring smooth integration with existing systems.
• Improving software quality, maintainability, and performance through testing, refactoring, and continuous improvement.
• Helping ensure secure and reliable systems by contributing to authentication, authorization, and cybersecurity best practices.
