Job summary

Gazelle Global Consulting is recruiting a Backend Engineer - API Development for an Amsterdam, Netherlands engagement. You will own API design, security, and testing, delivering scalable TS/Node.js services with strong focus on reliability and partner-facing platforms.

You will drive API contracts, docs, and sandbox environments, while aligning with security best practices and cloud-native delivery in a fast-paced, autonomous environment.

Qualifications

• Proficient in TypeScript/Node.js backend development.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs with OpenAPI specifications.
• Strong understanding of relational databases and data integrity.
• Experience with AWS services and cloud-native delivery.
• Security-minded mindset with API protection practices.

Responsibilities

• Expand and harden API surface, add new endpoints and webhooks.
• Improve developer experience with clear contracts and docs.
• Implement robust testing: unit, integration, and contract tests.
• Ensure security, observability, and performance at scale.
• Collaborate across teams to drive delivery end-to-end.
