Job summary

Hire.nl is seeking a senior back-end developer to build with Laravel and drive AI-enabled solutions in healthcare. You’ll own significant parts of the product, work in a small, voice-counting team, and shape architecture from day one.

The role emphasizes owning core platform development, API design, and collaboration with frontend, product, and external partners. Experience in healthcare or regulated sectors is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience in PHP/Laravel.
• Strong MySQL skills and API design experience.
• AI-first mindset with interest in leveraging AI tools in daily work.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD and modern deployment practices.
• Fluent English; Dutch is a plus but not required.
• Experience in healthcare or regulated sectors is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve the core platform, focusing on Laravel backend services and APIs.
• Collaborate with frontend developers to deliver end-to-end features.
• Apply AI tools in daily workflows and help the team maximize them.
• Design architecture with scalability and performance in mind from DB design to deployment.
• Review code, share knowledge, and raise the team's technical bar.
• Work with product/design/partners to turn ideas into working software.

Where you'll make an impact

Our client develops software that makes healthcare processes simpler, safer and more efficient. The platform is used every day by professionals in the field, so quality and reliability really matter. The team is small, informal and hands-on: short lines, no layers of management, and plenty of room to shape how things are built.

What you'll be doing

• Building and improving the core platform, with a focus on Laravel back-end services and APIs


• Working closely with front-end developers to deliver features that work seamlessly end-to-end


• Working AI-first: using tools like Claude Code, Cursor or Copilot in your daily workflow, and helping the team get the most out of them


• Thinking along on architecture, scalability and performance, from database design to deployment


• Reviewing code, sharing knowledge and raising the technical bar for the team


• Working closely with product, design and external partners to turn ideas into working software

What you bring

• Senior-level experience (5+ years) as a back-end developer


• In-depth knowledge of PHP and Laravel, plus solid MySQL skills


• Experience designing and maintaining RESTful APIs


• An AI-first mindset: you already use AI tools in your development work and are curious about what's next


• Comfortable with Git, CI/CD and modern deployment practices


• Fluent in English (the working language); Dutch is a plus, not a requirement


• Experience with Vue.js


• Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes


• Affinity with or experience in healthcare or other regulated sectors
