Job summary

Surge Marine is seeking an Acoustic Engineer to turn raw hydrophone data into real-time tactical insights for autonomous underwater platforms. You will design rugged hydrophone arrays, implement TDOA and beamforming, classify acoustic signatures, and drive sea trials from simulation to hardware in challenging maritime environments.

Qualifications include deep understanding of sonar equations, multipath propagation, and Python/MATLAB data analysis.

Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of the sonar equation, multipath propagation, and acoustic impedance.
  • Field deployment experience and ability to diagnose issues on deck during sea trials.
  • Proficiency in Python/MATLAB for data analysis and signal processing.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy rugged hydrophone arrays for high-speed waterjet platforms.
  • Implement advanced TDOA and beamforming to locate targets in real time.
  • Lead noise fingerprinting and classify acoustic signatures in high-noise environments.
  • Collaborate with propulsion and electronics teams and validate models through sea trials.
