Job summary
Damen Naval in Vlissingen is seeking a Robotics/Mechatronics Engineer to strengthen its Research, Development & Innovation team. You will contribute to development, integration, testing, and validation of autonomous systems for maritime applications, including navigation, obstacle avoidance, and sensor integration.
The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and compliance with maritime standards.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Robotics/Mechatronics or related field.
- Bachelor’s degree with 5–7 years of relevant experience is acceptable.
- Experience with autonomous systems or defence/m maritime environments is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Design autonomous above-water and underwater systems for maritime environments.
- Integrate and refine algorithms for autonomous navigation and obstacle detection.
- Integrate sensors (radar, lidar, sonar, cameras) for navigation and situational awareness.
- Conduct testing, simulations, and validation of autonomous systems under varying conditions.
- Ensure compliance with maritime regulations and standards.
