ThoughtLabs Belgium is seeking an Automation Engineer to design and implement automation platforms using Ansible and Terraform. You will build reusable roles, modules, and workflows, enabling teams to provision infrastructure and integrate CI/CD for automated testing and deployment.

You will work hands-on on technical solutions, promote knowledge sharing, and help clients with enterprise automation adoption, including RHCE readiness and Dutch communication.

Competenze

• Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation (Ansible, Terraform).
• Experience building reusable automation (roles, modules, collections).
• Experience with GitOps workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
• Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• RHCE or willingness to obtain in short term.

As an Automation Engineer, you design and implement automation platforms based on Ansible and Terraform. You build reusable roles, modules, and workflows that enable infrastructure as code. You implement self-service capabilities that allow teams to independently provision infrastructure, configure CI/CD integrations for automated testing and deployment, and ensure reliable automation for clients such as RIVM, Rabobank, and Schiphol. You work with the Ansible Automation Platform for enterprise automation, implement policy-as-code and secrets management, and assist teams with adoption and troubleshooting. You work hands-on on technical solutions while facilitating knowledge sharing.

You love automation and always think one step ahead. In addition, you bring:

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with infrastructure automation (Ansible, Terraform)
• Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Ansible Lightspeed, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) for automation and scripting
• Experience building reusable automation: Ansible Collections and Roles, Terraform modules
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code best practices and GitOps workflows
• Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
• Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for tooling and automation
• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or willing to obtain it in the short term
• Ability to explain technical concepts
• Oral and written proficiency in Dutch
