Job summary

JOINSON&SPICE is looking for an Audit Professional to join a fast-growing boutique, collaborating on audits for tech scaleups in Amsterdam. You’ll review planning, test controls, and prepare closing documents while learning client accounting principles and building your professional voice.

You bring curiosity, a drive to improve, and two years’ audit experience, with fluency in English and Dutch to engage with international clients and a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• HBO or WO degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field with intent to become a Registered accountant (RA).
• Two years of experience in audit.
• Strong analytical mindset and structured way of working.
• Excellent written and spoken English and Dutch.

Responsibilities

• Support audit engagements from planning through wrap-up.
• Explore client processes, technology, and data while supporting audit activities.
• Perform audit procedures: control testing, analytical reviews, and substantive testing.
• Document findings and help ensure compliance with relevant standards.
• Communicate clearly with clients and internal teams.
• Spot risks, ask smart questions, draft management letter points and add value beyond checklists.
• Contribute to knowledge-sharing, peer coaching, and improving internal processes.

At JOINSON&SPICE, we work with fast-growing scale-up clients in Tech and strongly believe in a data-driven approach, using our in-house developed software to deliver outstanding results. Innovation really does literally flow through our veins. Our team is growing (we aim to triple in size by 2028), and they need an Audit Professional who think with them.

Your Day

Your day kicks off with a tasteful cup of tea or coffee. And then the team sync, where you review audit planning for a fast-growing international client like TicketSwap. You're working on revenue recognition this week - starting to learn the client's accounting principles and then start digging into ledgers, preparing tests of controls, and making sure the numbers add up as you'd expect. You collaborate closely with your colleagues and learn to ask the right questions early, because curiosity is how we add value as auditors.

Mid-morning, you help prep for a client meeting. Together with a senior team member, you walk through the agenda, the audit timeline, flag open items, and clarify key issues. The client appreciates your structured thinking and sharp eye for detail. Off course you draft a smashing summary of the call and set out the follow-up.

After lunch, you finalise documentation, you check the 'definition of done' and send it off for review. You get thoughtful feedback - and you're encouraged to challenge inspiring ideas. Before the day ends, you support a junior team member who's stuck on a reconciliation - and you realise how much you've already grown in your role.

You close your laptop feeling energised. You're not just verifying numbers - you're building your judgment, confidence, and professional voice. Ready to go home with a smile on your face.

What You Bring

• Proven curiosity, initiative, and a drive to continuously improve

• Passion for Data & IT

• A completed or ongoing HBO or WO degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field, with a clear intention to continue along the path toward becoming a Register accountant (RA)

• Two years of experience in audit

• A sharp analytical mindset and structured way of working

• Good communication skills in both English and Dutch (both mandatory)
