Job summary

The University of Twente in Enschede invites applications for a balanced research and education position focused on sensing systems. You will build your own research line in sensing, wearables and edge analytics, while shaping education in Creative Technology and Technical Computer Science at BSc and MSc levels.

You will supervise PhD/MSc students, seek funding, and contribute to group flagship projects and cross-disciplinary collaborations.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong scientific track record in sensing systems and/or sensor-data analytics with publications.
• Proven experience with real sensing systems, deployed and evaluated, not just simulated.
• Evidence or potential for acquiring research funding and supervising students.
• Enjoy teaching and coordinating at BSc/MSc level; readiness to develop an independent line.
• University Teaching Qualification (UTQ/BKO) or willingness to obtain within 3 years.
• Team player, able to connect and strengthen group research lines.
• Fluent in English; willingness to learn Dutch if needed.

Responsibilities

• Research with impact: develop a research line in sensing systems and/or data analytics.
• Acquisition & supervision: grow research funding and supervise PhD/EngD/MSc students.
• Inspiring education: teach and coordinate BSc and MSc programmes and supervise theses.
• Collaboration & citizenship: work in a multidisciplinary environment and contribute to group initiatives.
