Universiteit Leiden in The Hague invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Security and Rule of Law. You will teach across the ISGA programs and supervise theses while advancing your research agenda in security studies and related fields.

The role includes developing courses, contributing to educational innovation, and engaging in interdisciplinary collaboration. A full or part-time path with flexible and hybrid options is offered.

Competenze

• PhD required in security studies, law, cybersecurity, international relations, policy studies, political science or related discipline.
• Demonstrated research experience in security studies with openness to other fields.
• Outstanding research with established or developing publication record.
• Excellence in research-led teaching and passion for education.
• Commitment to a close-knit, interdisciplinary academic community.
• Ability to connect academic research to policy-oriented and societal impact.
• University Teaching Qualification (UTQ) required or to be obtained.
• Excellent command of English; willingness to achieve Dutch language proficiency.

Mansioni

• Teach across ISGA programs including BA Security Studies, MSc Crisis and Security Management, and ISGA minors.
• Conduct independent research related to security and the rule of law.
• Publish in international peer-reviewed journals and other outlets.
• Contribute to renewal and improvement of educational practices at Bachelor’s and Master’s level.
• Take on administrative and coordination tasks within ISGA.
• Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team to support ISGA's research strategy.
• Supervise theses and capstone projects.
• Contribute to student mentoring and advising within the tutorial system.
• Acquire and manage research and training projects for third parties.
• Demonstrate ability to teach across various security-related topics.
