Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Operations Research. The candidate will develop an independent research line, initiate collaborations with industry, contribute to education and teach across disciplines, aiming to advance stochastic optimization and related methods.

The appointment is initially 18 months and leads to a permanent contract. The position offers a 0.8–1.0 FTE, with a gross monthly salary between €4,925 and €7,573, plus attractive

Qualifications

PhD in mathematics or operations research.
Strong research record in Operations Research.
Postdoctoral experience preferred.
Fluent in English.
Willing to obtain BKO if not held.

Responsibilities

develop an independent research line in Operations Research
initiate and develop collaborations with companies and external organisations, pursuing research funding
contribute to professional education and translate research methods into learning experiences
teach and supervise students at undergraduate and graduate levels
show academic leadership and contribute to the department and wider academic community.
