Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam invites applications for a position in Operations Research. The role focuses on establishing an independent research program, building industry collaborations, and contributing to professional education across disciplines in Mathematics and Business Analytics.

You will teach and supervise students at multiple levels and contribute to the international scholarly community. The appointment is 0.8–1.0 FTE with an 18-month initial period leading to a permanent contract.

Qualifications

• PhD in mathematics or operations research with a strong research record.
• Proven ability to develop an independent research programme.
• Fluent in English; willingness to obtain BKO if not yet certified.

Responsibilities

• Develop an independent research line in Operations Research.
• Initiate and develop collaborations with companies and external organisations.
• Contribute to professional education and translate research methods into learning experiences.
• Teach and supervise students at undergraduate and graduate levels across disciplines.
• Show academic leadership nationally and internationally.
