Job summary

Delft University of Technology is seeking an Archaeological Remote Sensing Specialist who will develop novel machine learning methods to extract hidden archeological information from massive remote sensing data. The role involves leading the MAPHSA project, coordinating partners, supervising staff, and communicating results through scientific publications.

You will work with Dr. Roderik Lindenbergh and contribute to the Department’s funding and educational activities.

Qualifications

• PhD in Archaeology, and knowledgeable in pre-Columbian archaeology.
• Working knowledge of state-of-the-art Machine Learning methodology.
• Proven experience with different remote sensing acquisition methods, including LIDAR and spectral Remote Sensing.
• Able to efficiently process large data sets.
• Proven capabilities in acquiring research funding.
• Experience in education, supervising BSc, MSc and PhD theses.
• Experience in project coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead the TU Delft contribution within the MAPHSA project.
• Develop methodologies to identify hidden information in large remote sensing datasets.
• Coordinate the project and communicate results through publications and outreach.
• Supervise staff and students working on related topics.
• Contribute to funding and educational activities of the department.
