Job description

For a fast-growing high-tech company in the Netherlands, we are looking for a data-minded engineer who wants to take ownership of the full measurement-to-results workflow within advanced inspection and metrology technology.

You will join a small, highly technical team working on complex measurement systems for demanding industrial applications. The environment is hands-on, fast-moving and technical, with close collaboration between software, optics, hardware and domain specialists.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will be responsible for the complete pipeline from raw measurement data to reconstructed images and actionable analysis. You will help define what needs to be measured, configure and run reconstruction workflows, analyze the results and translate findings into improvements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Owning the end-to-end workflow from data acquisition to reconstructed image and final analysis
  • Turning raw datasets into reliable, reproducible results
  • Translating customer requirements and industry test cases into clear measurement and process recipes
  • Building automated workflows that enable repeatable execution with minimal manual intervention
  • Performing rigorous data analysis and deeper investigations when results require explanation
  • Designing structured numerical and experimental tests to improve performance
  • Working closely with optics, hardware and software teams to drive iteration cycles
  • Translating technical challenges into clear, repeatable test cases and practical solutions
What you bring to the table

We are looking for a technically strong and curious engineer who enjoys working at the intersection of data, software and advanced measurement technology. You are someone who can bring structure to complex datasets, build reliable analysis workflows and use experimental results to help improve a high-tech system step by step.

You do not need to know the full domain from day one. What matters most is that you are analytical, hands-on and able to work independently on technical challenges where the answer is not always obvious yet.

In this role, it helps if you have experience with:

  • Developing data analysis workflows in Python
  • Working with scientific or numerical data
  • Building structured and repeatable pipelines for data processing and analysis
  • Using Python libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, PyTorch or JAX
  • Designing experiments or test cases to validate technical assumptions
  • Working with complex systems where software, hardware and physics come together
  • Communicating findings clearly to technical colleagues from different disciplines

Additional experience that would be valuable:

  • Computational imaging, image reconstruction or optical measurement techniques
  • Physics-based modelling or machine learning applied to scientific data
  • Numerical optimization or simulation-driven development
  • Working with large datasets, scientific file formats or visualization tools

We are open to different levels of experience. Whether you are already an expert in this area or have a strong technical foundation and the ambition to grow into it, we would be happy to explore the right scope for the role.

What we offer you
  • A key role in a highly technical and innovative environment
  • Ownership of a complete measurement-to-analysis pipeline
  • The opportunity to work on advanced inspection and metrology technology
  • A small team with short communication lines and room for real impact
  • Close collaboration with specialists in optics, hardware, software and applied research
  • A competitive salary based on experience and seniority
  • The opportunity to grow into an in-house expert within a technically challenging domain
