Job summary

East Carolina University is seeking a Federal Work Study lab assistant for the Department of Anthropology to support faculty with laboratory activities, collections management, and general office operations for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027.

The role involves assisting with lab projects, artifact processing, inventory, data entry, and providing customer service to faculty, staff, and students. A graduate student is preferred but all students will be considered.

Qualifications

• Major in Anthropology preferred
• Good customer service skills
• Detail oriented
• Willingness to work with diverse groups

Responsibilities

• Assist faculty with laboratory projects and research activities
• Prepare, organize, and maintain laboratory materials
• Assist with artifact processing, inventory, and data entry
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
• Assist students, faculty, and staff in person and by phone
• Perform general office duties (filing, copying, scanning)
• Complete additional departmental projects
