Job summary

Monks is seeking an Android Developer to own Jetpack Compose UI and architecture for a large, global retail brand. You’ll work with production-grade Kotlin, design system components, and ensure the app is fast, secure, and scalable across dozens of markets.

You’ll collaborate across engineers, designers, QA, and PMs, write robust tests, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines. Fluent English and a passion for high-quality mobile experiences are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong production experience with Jetpack Compose.
• Proven Android development experience using modern practices and the Android SDK.
• Proficiency with Retrofit or Ktor, Room, Dagger or Koin, Architecture Components, and Coroutines.
• Quality mindset with profiling, performance tuning, security, and memory leak prevention.
• Hands-on CI/CD with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and Bitrise.
• Fluent in English and Kotlin, with global collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Own Jetpack Compose development end-to-end: production UI, design system components, navigation patterns, state management.
• Build with modern Android standards: scalable module structure and architecture in Kotlin.
• Deliver resilient production code with performance, security, and memory safety.
• Design and implement core Android layers using Retrofit/Ktor, Room, Dagger/Koin, Architecture Components, and Coroutines.
• Write and maintain unit, integration, and UI tests; participate in test strategy.
• Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and/or Bitrise.
• Collaborate daily with cross-functional teams, including designers, QA, and project managers.
• Communicate risks, progress, and priorities clearly across countries and time zones.
