Job summary

Damen Naval B.V. is seeking an Allround CADMATIC Engineer to develop and optimize integrated ship designs in CADMATIC, focusing on piping systems and technical spaces.

You will collaborate with system specialists, safety engineers, and other disciplines to ensure proper integration and maintainability on advanced vessels. Requirements include a degree in Naval Architecture or Mechanical Engineering, 3+ years of relevant experience, and proficiency with CADMATIC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant technical discipline.
• At least three years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in shipbuilding, offshore, or similar maritime environments.
• Hands-on experience with CADMATIC or comparable CAD software, specializing in piping systems and technical spaces within a 3D environment.
• Experience designing and integrating piping systems, equipment and technical spaces with attention to interfaces, accessibility and safety.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize 3D designs for piping systems, equipment, and technical spaces within CADMATIC.
• Analyze specifications and translate requirements into feasible engineering solutions.
• Create basic engineering packages with 3D models, drawings and production information.
• Ensure proper integration of piping systems with other disciplines and interfaces.
• Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews and propose improvements.

The role

In this temporary role as an Allround CADMATIC Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing integrated ship designs within the CADMATIC environment. Combining expertise in piping engineering and technical arrangements, you will translate technical requirements into practical 3D solutions for piping systems, equipment, and the spaces in which they are installed. You will work closely with system specialists, safety engineers, maintainability experts, and other engineering disciplines to ensure that systems and components are properly integrated into the vessel. In doing so, you will consider technical requirements as well as maintainability, ergonomics, accessibility, and operational safety. You will develop and review engineering solutions, resolve design and integration challenges, and contribute to the overall technical quality and feasibility of the ship design.

Key accountabilities

• Develop and optimize 3D designs for piping systems, equipment, and technical spaces within CADMATIC, considering functionality, accessibility, maintainability, ergonomics, and safety.
• Analyze technical specifications and requirements and translate them into practical and feasible engineering solutions.
• Develop basic engineering packages, including 3D models, drawings, and production information, in accordance with applicable standards and project requirements.
• Ensure effective integration of piping systems, equipment, and other components within technical spaces while considering interfaces with other engineering disciplines.
• Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews, identify potential design conflicts, and propose improvements to optimize the overall vessel design.
• Work closely with system specialists, engineers, procurement, production, and other internal and external stakeholders, providing technical advice and communicating design solutions effectively.
• Ensure engineering deliverables meet applicable requirements, regulations, quality standards, and project objectives while contributing to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

Skills & experience

• Bachelor or Master degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant technical discipline.
• At least three years of relevant engineering experience, preferably within shipbuilding, offshore, or other complex maritime environments.
• Hands‑on experience with CADMATIC or comparable 2D/3D CAD software, with the ability to work on both piping systems and technical arrangements within a 3D environment.
• Experience with the design and integration of piping systems, equipment, and technical spaces, taking into account interfaces, accessibility, maintainability, ergonomics, and safety.
• Experience working on complex engineering projects, preferably involving technologically advanced or high‑end vessels.
• Good command of the English language, both written and verbal; proficiency in Dutch is considered an advantage.
• Excellent references and antecedents, as a pre‑employment security screening is a standard part of the recruitment procedure.
