Job summary

Damen Naval seeks a Senior Engineer Plans & Arrangements (interim) to strengthen the Plans & Arrangements team within Engineering. You will independently prepare statutory plans using 2D/3D CAD, ensuring compliance and collaboration across disciplines.

The role focuses on developing statutory plans such as General Arrangement, Fire Safety, and Watertight Integrity Plans, with secondment or temporary contract basis. English proficiency required.

Qualifications

• Secondary vocational education (MBO-4+) in outfitting or engineering.
• At least 3 years' experience drafting statutory plans.
• Knowledge of Class and Statutory regulations in shipbuilding or offshore.
• Proficient in 2D/3D CAD (Microstation, SolidWorks, CATIA).
• Strong English written and verbal skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyse and interpret norms, rules, and customer requirements for assigned plans.
• Prepare statutory plans using 2D and 3D CAD, ensuring compliance with standards and client specs.
• Identify challenges and propose solutions with Lead Engineer Plans.
• Collaborate with engineering disciplines for optimal technical outcomes.
• Adapt to evolving project needs and stay up to date with developments.
• Contribute to the development of the P&A department.

The role

Currently we are seeking a Senior Engineer Plans & Arrangements (interim) to strengthen our Plans & Arrangements (P&A) team within the Engineering department. In this role we have two expertise areas namely Plans and Arrangements. In this role you will be specifically focusing on developing statutory plans based on ship specifications and stakeholder requirements. You will collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines to contribute to high-quality technical solutions while ensuring full compliance with applicable rules and standards. In this role you will be part of an basic engineering team responsible for creating statutory plans and securing approval from classification societies and clients. Examples include the General Arrangement Plan, Fire Safety Plan, and Watertight Integrity Plan. These plans serve as essential foundations for other engineering disciplines and form a crucial component of the overall engineering process.

Key accountabilities

• Analyse and interpret relevant norms, rules, regulations, and customer requirements for your assigned plans.
• Independently prepare statutory plans using 2D and 3D software, ensuring full compliance with all applicable standards and client specifications.
• Identify challenges and discuss them with the Lead Engineer Plans, proactively proposing effective solutions.
• Collaborate with a range of engineering disciplines to achieve optimal technical outcomes.
• Adapt to evolving project needs and stay up to date with the latest developments.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and professionalisation of the P&A department.

Skills & experience

• Secondary vocational education (MBO-4+) related to an outfitting or engineering discipline.
• At least 3 years 'of experience with drafting statutory plans
• Proven knowledge of Class and Statutory regulations, ideally within shipbuilding or offshore environments.
• Passionate and experienced in using 2D and 3D CAD systems including Microstation, SolidWorks, and 3DExperience (CATIA).
• Good command of the English language written & verbal.
• Excellent antecedents as a pre-employment security screening are a standard part of the recruitment procedure.

• An attractive salary aligned with permanent staff.
• Travel allowance of 23 cents per kilometre.
• Flexibility to work from home up to two days a week.

• This temporary assignment of 6 months is exclusively offered on a secondment (detachering) or temporary employment contract basis.
