Job summary

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Accountant to take ownership of the financial reporting processes for our largest Dutch-based entities from a financial reporting perspective. This role goes beyond traditional accounting, focusing also on compliance with Dutch GAAP and strengthening the integrity of our financial data.

You will play a key role in shaping accurate and timely financial reporting across areas such as statutory reporting, VAT, and financial close processes.

In this position, you will report to the Holding Controller based in Amsterdam. This position plays a central role in the Finance department and offers a great opportunity for further career steps within Karl Lagerfeld.

Key responsibilities
  • Take ownership of financial reporting and trial balance integrity for Dutch entities across Wholesale, Digital, and Royalty revenue streams, including payroll, transfer pricing activities, accruals, and period-end adjustments.
  • Ensure balance sheet integrity and robust reconciliations, including revenue analysis, improvements in wholesale reconciliations, inventory and POS-related reconciliations, intercompany balances, and key balance sheet accounts.
  • Ensure all reconciliations are fully supported, accurate, and aligned with underlying data sources.
  • Lead month-end close and reporting processes by executing month-end close in line with the reporting calendar and deadlines.
  • Deliver high-quality trial balances and reporting packages in OneStream, providing clear and insightful financial commentary.
  • Perform post-close validation checks to ensure completeness and accuracy in line with SOX compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement by optimizing financial reporting processes and controls and leveraging AI to drive efficient Finance processes.
  • Own and maintain the financial reporting calendar.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of VAT, social taxes, and corporate income tax filings.
  • Coordinate closely with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing high-quality documentation, reconciliations, and explanations, and liaising with auditors.
  • Deliver ad-hoc financial analysis, support projects, and contribute to Finance team initiatives with a focus on insight and business value.
The profile
  • 3+ years of experience in financial reporting/accounting, ideally within retail.
  • Experience with Dutch statutory reporting and VAT compliance is preferred.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with fluency in English; Dutch is an advantage.
  • University degree or diploma in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting.
  • Strong systems knowledge, including ERP platforms and advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality output under tight deadlines.
  • Proactive, hands-on, and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment with multiple stakeholders and management levels.
  • Interest and motivation to grow into a broader financial control and reporting role.
