Van Oord is seeking a 2nd Engineer to operate and maintain technical installations on state-of-the-art dredging vessels, supporting safe operations during watch and contributing to project execution around the world.
You will work with a diverse international crew, develop leadership skills, and advance toward senior ranks while upholding safety, environmental, and statutory requirements.
A maritime engineering background and hands-on experience on dredging vessels are essential.
Qualifications
- A degree in Maritime Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years' experience as 2nd Engineer on dredging vessels.
- Valid 2nd Engineer of the Watch Certificate of Competency (OOW Unlimited).
- STCW certification and seagoing documents incl. seafarer's medical certificate.
- Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written).
Responsibilities
- Operate main technical installations during watch and supervise crew on duty.
- Plan, delegate and monitor corrective and preventive maintenance safely and on schedule.
- Perform system diagnostics and troubleshooting, guiding less experienced colleagues.
- Coordinate maintenance work with nautical and operational teams.
- Coach and support crew to uphold a safe working environment on board.
